A New Year = New Beginnings

The new year of 2012 has started with a lot of energy. We are learning about the energy of sound, early explorers, healthy food and gymnists. The gr3's and 4's  have used a lot of energy learning long division and multiplication.   

We have been blessed with a new bible teacher that enjoys art as much as our class, which has been wonderfully illuminating.

It sure is an exciting time!!!!

This week we have our theme day on thursday, the theme is winter wonderland.  We hope all the students will come to school with a creative costume!!!

Advent time is here,

In class we are celebrating advent by lighting a candle for each week in December. Then for five minutes we quiet our minds and hearts to make room for the coming of lord Jesus in our lives. The students found it difficult to start but each day they practice they find it easier. Many of the students see lights and colours in their minds and peace. I'm very impressed by their dedication and respect to this ancient christian practice. 

All parents are welcome to join us for Jesse Tree or our advent celebration. 

We also have parent teacher conferences coming up. Please sign up outside the intermediate class. 

On friday December 16th we are having a gift exchange. If possible please wrap a gift that is no more than ten dollars. The students will exchange gifts from eachother. 

Thank you again for all your support this term. It has been truly wonderful teaching your children.

The end of term is near.

This week we have been summing up our major units on Aboriginal culture, the science of light, whole numbers, and our visual journals. The students have been working very hard on each subject.

This friday we have our colourful cultures day. Please encourage your son or daughter to dress up like their culture or a culture they love. It is their choice!

On November 29th we will be heading to the Museum of Anthropology. Please note we need at least two parent volunteers for this school trip. Please email Mrs. Scale if you are available for the whole day. 

Remembrance Day/ Electives Week.

We had a great week full of learning about War veterans, the symbolism of the poppy and how you can use perspective to create three dimension in art. The students worked hard during electives and created wonderful earrings, mars colonies, bird houses, picture frames and Comic books. 

Please note there is a Professional Development Day on Thursday November 10th 2011. 

Remembrance Day is on Friday November 11th 2011

Monday is a regular school day.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS & CRAZY HAIR September 29th 

This week we will celebrate the lovely birthdays of our class. Every month we are to have a party for the birthdays of that month. This birthday party will honor Reid for June 17th Elena for her birthday on June 6th, Hannah for her birthday on June 11th, Mrs Scale for her birthday on August 29th and Heidi for her most recent birthday of September 17th. Please consider making a card or a prayer to these people if your heart so inclines. 

CRAZY HAIR DAY is on the same day.....oh how lucky we are. PLEASE COME WITH THE WACKIEST HAIR or help your child with WACKY HAIR. Theme Day will commence on Friday although no planned wacky hair allowed. We allow the wackiness to come from wet swimming hair, which will do the trick. THANK YOU to all parents for their help during shared lunch. 

Second Week of School!!

This week we have MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT and BBQ. THe BBQ is from 5:30-6:30 then the teachers will be discussing expectations and annual plans. I look forward to meeting all of you tomorrow.
