REMINDERS1) Family Reading from 8:30am-8:45am on Tuesday mornings 2) Sharing Day is Thursday . Children are encouraged to share, at least once a week, something special (toy, souveneir, or memory/event they experienced, etc) 3) Regarding Lunch and Snack Time: Some children are not finishing their snacks/lunches and some parents have sent in notes saying they are not expecting them to finish all that is packed. If you are NOT expecting your child to finish all their food, please SEND IN A NOTE WITH THEIR LUNCHES to inform supervisors. Thank you. 4) Please make sure your child brings their Homework Folders every day.
6)Gym at shool on Mondays. Please arrive at 8:20am with your child dressed in gym clothing. Gymnastics at Osbourne gym on Fridays. Again, please arrive at 8:20 am with your child dressed in gym clothing.You can drop their belongings and change of uniform off at school. HOMEWORK-read 10 minutes (Gr. 1) or 20 minutes (Gr. 2) per day with your child -practice printing and writing in personal journals, diaries, crafts, grocery lists, etc. HAPPENINGS Jan. 31st, 2012 Highlight of our day: We participated in a couple of experiments today to look at air! We ran with papers on our tummies, to see if the sheets would stick or fall. We observed air pressure at work. We also weighed two balloons of different sizes and found the bigger balloon with more air weighed more than the smaller with less air. We observed that air has mass. Jan. 26th, 2012 Theme Day: Winter Wonderland (Please note it is on Thursday now because the Senior/Intermediate classes are going to Missions' Fest on Friday) Jan. 24th, 2012 Scholastic Book Orders Due Today we started the day with Family Reading. We learned about sequencing and putting story and parts in order during language time. Each of us got a packet of cards to put in order and create stories for. After recess we had storytime. We then learned a bit more about Chinese New Years. We practiced using chopsticks to pick up things and answered some comprehension questions. We did our spelling pretests today and finished our dragon masks. After lunch, we had Art with Mrs. Scale. We then wrote in our Agendas and had DEAR. The Gr. 1's worked on continual number stories today, with addition and subtraction. The. Gr. 2's worked on word problems for review and strengthening thinking skills. We ended the day with Hot Pencils and devotions. Jan. 20th, 2012 Hot Lunch Day Jan 19th, 2012 We started the day off by learning how to solve fights, arguments, and conflicts. We read a story about complaining, how others feel when we complain, and how it affects friendships. We made skits to show the problem and solution. After recess, we watched a clip of how the water cycle progresses. We discussed terms such as condensation, evaporation, melting, freezing, and precipitation. The video also talked about water in different states. We started making comic strip of a raindrop's journey through the water cycle. Afterwards, we practiced our spelling words in our spelling exercises. After lunch, we had Music with Ms. Levans. We then wrote in our Agendas and had DEAR. The Gr. 1's reviewed subtraction by demonstrating with pictures. The Gr. 2's worked on recognizing word problems as addition or subtraction problems. We then had some time for SUbtraction wars in math centers and Hot Pencils. We ended the day with devotions, reading about Noah's ark and how he trusted in God to protect him when he was afraid. Jan. 17th, 2012 We started our day with Family Reading. We then wrote in our Weather Logs and moved on to Word Mastery. We made words and defined them with pictures that we see in our minds when we hear the word. We also shared with our peers and explained our creations. After recess, we read a story about what things happen in the Wintertime. We then read about how the different seasons affect plants and made webs to write down what we learned. We added some pictures to our bulletin board to showed what we learned. Afterwards, we had our spelling pretests and Language Centers. After lunch, we had Art with Mrs. Scale. We then wrote in our Agendas and had some time for DEAR. For math, the Gr. 1's practiced reading word problems and determining if they needed to add or subtract to figure out the answer. The Gr. 2's practiced counting up and down and determining what strategy to use for subtraction questions. We counted our pennies at the end of the day and our total is now $11.06! Thank you to the families who contributed! Jan. 13th, 2012 Hot Lunch Day Today we began our gymnastics. We had so much fun trying out the equipment at the Osbourne Gym. When we got back to the school we had recess and then buddy reading. We also had our first spelling tests of the year before lunch. All the children did very well! After lunch, we wrote in our agendas, had some time for DEAR, then had math. The Gr. 1's practiced subtraction by counting on fingers and the Gr. 2's reviewed using addition to do subtraction. We also counted more pennies. We have around 700 pennies at the moment! After math, we watched a couple videos about creatures in the winter time. Then it was time to go home! Jan. 9th, 2012 We started the day off with devotions, where we talked about God's protection and how, even though we don't realize it sometimes, He is constantly protecting us. We also had gym this morning, and played soccer at the circle field by the UBC village. After recess, we had storytime. In science today, we observed the changes in weather in our weather logs. We looked at how weather changes and what it can change to. We also looked at something else that changes -seasons. After science, we finished up our journals, weather wheels, and had some time in Language Centers. After lunch, we had Music with Miss Levans. We then wrote in our agendas and had DEAR. The Gr. 1's and 2's both started subtraction today.The grade 1's practiced counting back and crossing out strategies. The Gr. 2's practiced counting back with a starting point on number lines. We then played Snakes and Ladders backwards to practice our subtraction. At the end of the day we cleaned up our room and said a class prayer. Jan. 6th, 2012 Pro D Day (No School) Jan. 5th, 2012 We started the day with Math. The Gr. 1's solved word problems with addition and the Gr. 2's finished off their multiplication and division booklets. We had some time for math centers. After recess, we continued learning about weather. We made weather wheels for our weatherlogs so we can keep track of the changes in the weather. We read a story about rain and the sounds of rain and chose different sounds to make to make a rain orchestra! Before lunch, we worked on our journals about our Christmas break and had some time in Language Centers. After lunch we had music with Ms. Levans. We then wrote in our agendas, switched our books and went outside for gym! We played tag games, had relays, and played soccer today. We talked about good sportsmanship, being humble, and encouraging one another. See you on Monday! Jan. 3rd, 2012 Happy New Year Everyone! What a great first day back to school! Although it was a wet day, we made the most out of it seeing our classmates again. We started the day off by reading from our devotional book, which was about obeying our parents and being considerate to others. We then made our January Calendar so we would be able to anticipate events coming up. After recess we started on our science unit on Weather and looked at different types of weather. We learned what overcast meant and described different types of weather with our classmates. We started a weather log so we can look at how weather changes. After lunch, we started on our new agendas. Each child is to bring it home each night for their parents to sign. They are to bring it back the next day, and like the Homework Folders, to hand it in the box in the morning. This is part of our Health and Career curriculum, to develop responsible behavior and to begin to develop skills to plan ahead. The Gr. 2's continued with multiplication and division today while the Gr. 1's reviewed addition strategies in math. We played Addition Bingo and then spent some time bonding with our classmates in Centers. See you tomorrow! Dec. 16th, 2011 Last day of School (10 am start)/Pyjama Theme Day *please note that there will be no shared lunch this theme day Dec. 15th, 2011 We learned about Christmas in Nigeria today. We sang some Christmas carols and played instruments to the beat, like the children in Nigeria. We also made masks similar to those the children had. We set new goals for next term today and reviewed the goals we set at the beginning of the year. See you at the Christmas concert! Christmas Program and Dessert Night De. 14th, 2011 It has certainly beeen a busy week! Today we started the morning with Jesse tree, then made -ash family words with play doh. We recorded these words in sentences, the Gr. 2's working on using complex sentences. After recess, we had Bible, where we read and acted out the parable of the talents. We talked about talents as gifts God gave us, and that He would like us to use these gifts to bring Him glory and joy. We made Talent Satchels and put our gifts, along with ideas on how to use our gifts to serve God and others, in the satchels. We worked on finishing our journals on Christmas celebrations. After lunch, we had rehearsals for our Christmas program until hometime. See you tomorrow! 2 more days of school left until Christmas break! We watched Charlie Brown's Christmas this morning and talked about the true meaning of Christmas and discussed what we really are celebrating. We made Pagodas, which are hung in the classroom like those in China. We also had a dress rehearsal for our Christmas Concert today with Mrs. Na. Dec. 6th, 2011 Highlights of our day: We made mini pinatas like those of the children in Mexico during their Las Posadas celebrations! We also worked on our reply letters to our penpals in London. Dec. 2nd, 2011 Highlight of our day: We went to the fieldhouse today for gym. The K-2's had a great session of team soccer! It was great to see some skillful soccer players and everyone working together and having fun! Have a good weekend! Nov. 28th, 2011 Highlight of our day: We read a book about postal workers today. We also learned how mail travels from one place to another. We walked to the UBC postal office to send off the package of our penpal letters! We are looking forward to hearing back! Nov. 25th, 2011 Theme Day: Colorful Cultures Nov. 23rd, 2011 Today, Mr. Grimm came in to talk about American farm culture! He showed us some tools, talked about what farmers do, and that we should, like farmers, wait for the fruit of the soil (our hearts). He also brought in a candied corn snack for us to try! In the afternoon, the kindergartens joined us. We read a story about Biscuit the dog's graduation day and made connections as it was also Ms. Heise's graduation day today. We made congratulations cards for Ms. Heise and the Gr. 1's and 2's were such great helpers to the younger children! Nov. 22nd, 2011 Scholastic Book Orders Due Nov. 17th, 2011 Highlight of our day: We learned about the Chinese culture and some legends today. We learned a story about hte Chinese zodiac, and why the cat isn't part of it. We also did some Chinese calligraphy, using black ink and wrote characters for some of the animals in the zodiac! Tomorrow, we will have Mrs. Kappers come in to share about Yemen! Nov. 16th, 2011 Hightlight of our day: We had nurses come in today to teach us about handwashing; when we should wash, how long to wash, and why we wash our hands. Nov. 14th, 2011 Pro D Day (No School) Nov. 11th, 2011 Remembrance Day (No School) Nov. 10th, 2011 Pro D Day (No School) Nov. 9th, 2011 Highlights of our day: For electives, there were a variety of different fun workshops happening today. There was picture frame painting, straw blown paintings, Christmas decorations, hip hop, Mars building, and much more! We also had our Remembrance Day assembly today, which Mrs. Na and Mr. Mawby organized. Everyone was very respectful during the time of silence where we remembered those who fought to keep our country free. Nov. 8th, 2011 Hightlights of our day: We finished our world map and identified where we are from. We also had electives today. Ms. Wong's group made paper mache masks yesterday and painted them today. Mrs. Na's group made jewellery-beaded bracelets and earrings. Looking forward to another day of fun-filled electives tomorrow! Nov. 7th, 2011 Electives Week begins (ends Nov. 9th) Nov. 4th, 2011 Hot Lunch Nov.3rd, 2011 Roller Coaster Workshop Field Trip Highlight of our day: Roller Coaster Workshop at the Science World Classroom. It was an educational and fun experience! We got to build ramps for tubes to roll down, without us touching them. We also got to build a roller coaster for metal balls with hot wheels race tracks, funnels, buckets, and piping! We also reviewed concepts of gravity, force, friction, and learned a new word, momentum! Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Kappers for transporting us to and from the workshop! Nov. 1st, 2011 October went by so quickly! We made our November calendars today. We also learned about gravity and friction, using different experiments to see these forces at work. We graphed by coloring simple machines that make up different machines in preparation for our field trip on Thursday. We also worked on our alphabet mastery, this time, we tried to memorize the alphabet backwards! We had music as well today, and ended the day with math (Gr. 1's counting b y10's and different sets of 1's; Gr. 2's identifying skip counting patterns). Oct. 28th, 2011 Theme Day: PIoneer Day Oct. 26th, 2011 Highlight of our day: We learned about the ten commandments, in our own words, and made parchment paper with tea bags so we can write them down. Oct. 25th, 2011 We started the day off with Family Reading and Calendar. We then did some Reading A-Z questions and reading. We had Language Centers. After recess, we read a story about a pinoeer girl and her life in her village. We then moved onto Science, where we learned about another simple machine, a pulley, and made one out of toilet paper rolls, strings, and a basket. We observed how they worked, and how they help us to do work easier and faster. After lunch, we had music, homework folders, and DEAR. The Gr.1's then did a more than/less than review and math centers. The Gr. 2's practiced estimating by counting by 10's and had math center time as well. Before the end of the day, we prayed and talked about what we learned today and then it was time to go home! Oct. 24th, 2011 Highlights of our day: Started some badminton skills (ready position and underhand volleying with wooden paddles and soft balls) in gym today. Made our own gear system with plastic gears and looked at the different speeds in relation to the different sizes of the gears. Oct. 21st, 2011 Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch Scholastic Book Orders Due (paid by cheque) Oct. 19th, 2011 Highlight of our day: We carved a pumpkin today for our classroom. This pumpkin represents how we can shine with love to others with Jesus in our hearts. We talked about the analogy of us picking, washing, and carving pumpkins. Jesus picked us from the pumpkin patch, washed us, took all the icky stuff out of us, and made us clean so we can shine with joy and show our light to others. We tried to bake the pumpkin seeds, but the oven was too hot, so they didn't taste very good burnt...but we still have a pumpkin that now reminds us of Jesus' love for sinners! Oct. 17th, 2011 Today was Gym day. We continued with cooperative games and different movement activities. When we got back, Nathan shared some things he brought for his VIP presentation! After recess, we read a story about different types of pumpkins.We then learned more about machines in science. Today we learned that different machines have many, few, or no moving parts. We identified these in our classroom, in our homes, and around the school. Afterwards, we spent some time playing the simple machines search game on the laptops. We then moved on to language, and looked at long vowel U. We had language centers afterwards. After lunch, we had art with Mrs. Scale. We then did Homework Folders and DEAR. The Gr. 2's practiced counting by 5's to 100 in math and the Gr. 1's making numbers before and after numbers 11-19 on ten frames. We spent some time in Math centers then it was time for prayers and hometime! *Note: Mandarin Club started today! Thanks to the kids who came and showed an interest and eagerness in learning about another culture and its language! :) Oct. 14th, 2011 We had swimming this morning followed by buddy reading and a review in our simple machines unit about more or less work. We typed responses to story book questions using the school laptops this afternoon. The Gr.1's looked at using ten frames to make numbers up to 20 today and the Gr.2's practiced counting by 5's to 100. Afterwards, we ended the day with centers and prayer. Have a great weekend! Oct. 13th, 2011 Hot Lunch Orders Due Hightlight of our day: Making our Harvest Celebration soup and enjoying it at lunch time! Oct. 12th, 2011 Today, we finished a few language jobs this morning. We worked in our journals, learning about long vowel o words, and spent some time in Language Centers. After recess, we read about the last supper, and about Jesus dying on the cross for us. We made stained glass crosses with wax crayon shavings and wax paper. We worked on our printing and handwriting books until lunch time. After lunch, we had Chapel and Choir. We then had math. The Gr. 1s reviewed one or two more or less with ten frames and counters. The Gr. 2s practiced counting by 2s starting at different numbers.We ended the day with Math Centers and prayer. Note: Please remember to bring your vegetables for our Harvest Celebration tomorrow!! Oct. 11th, 2011 Highlight(s) of our day: Sharing in our journals about our Thanksgiving weekends. Also, we learned about force and movement today, and reviewed what is considered work. Note: We are having a Harvest Celebration on Thursday. We will be making soup. Notices have been sent home and your child has chosen what they would like to bring. These things can be brought to school tomorrow or on Thursday. We had Language Centers before recess. We read a story about harvest after recess and discussed the types of fruits and vegetables that were harvested. We also read a bible story today, about Jesus washing his disiciple's feet. We talkeda bout how we can serve one another and made special soap bars to remind ourselves to serve others like Jesus did. After lunch, we had Chapel and Music. After Music, we did Homework Folders and had DEAR. Then, we watched a video about telling the truth and made connections to the video to our class novel, Wonder dog, which is also about a character who lied. We ended the day with prayer. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone! Oct. 3rd, 2011 Highlight of our Day: Making Turkeys with the Kindergarten class. We traces our hands and used the shapes as feathers for our turkey. We stuck on googly eyes to make them animated. We also started our siimple machines unit today. Also, thank you for all of your love, well wishes, and congratulations :) Sept. 30th, 2011 Theme Day Sept. 29th, 2011 Crazy Hair Day Highlight of our day: CRAZY HAIR! Everyone looked wonderful and our day was so much fun! We also did a small art/fall project today where we collected leaves, sprinkled them with wax crayon shavings, and melted them on wax paper. They are up on our classroom window, so come take a look! We typed Get Well cards on the school laptops today to practice using Microsoft Word. See you tomorrow at Swimming! Sept. 27th, 2011 God blessed us with a fun day today! We started the morning off with Family Reading. The Gr. 1's and 2's then went on a fall scavenger hunt. We used our 5 senses to observe things that happen, change, or appear in fall. We stopped for pie to observe with our noses and tongues. We also added a small fall decoration to our classroom, a miniature pumpkin! After recess, we worked on laptops again, practicing how to open windows, use the mousepad and buttons, close windows, and shut off the laptop. We then reviewed long a words and completed our language tasks for the day. We had Language Centers then lunch. After lunch, we had Music with Mrs. Na. After DEAR, the Gr.1's learned about representing numerals with objects and grouping similar objects together. Gr. 2's learned about counting in groups and different techniques to count multiple objects. Before hometime, we had some time for our new Numbers Math Centers! What a great day! See you tomorrow! Sept. 26th, 2011 Highlight of our day: Working/playing on laptops during Social Studies! What a great way to explore technology in our Technology unit! Sept. 22nd, 2011 Goal Setting Meeting We learned what it means to build one another up in love today. We discussed how to be a great friend. We wrote compliments to one another on a page with our names in the middle and read them afterwards. In Language, we reviewed all the short vowels we learned and played Around the World, competing to see who knew more short vowel words or could hear the short vowels in words given. We learned about transportation in social studies, as a type of technology. We read a story about how transportation changed over the years. We illustrated the way we get to school and how children might have made their way to school in the past. We are concluding our unit in patterns and made patterns with things that are related to fall. Sept. 21st, 2011 Goal Setting Meeting Happy birthday to Owen and Emma! They turned 7 today. Highlight of our day: We traced full sized images of ourselves and decorated them. These are to remind us that we are God's children, and like Jesus, we grow in wisdom and in the grace of God. Sept. 20th, 2011 We started recording new words in our personal dictionaries today. We then watched a video about repsonsibility and talked about responsibility being our ability to follow through in all we do. We wrote ways we can be responsible at home and at school in our journals. After recess, we learned short vowel u and reviewed short vowel e words today. We played around the world to review our knowledge of computer parts. After lunch, we had Music with Mrs. Na. We switched books during homework folders and had some time for DEAR. We then had math. The Gr. 1's extended patterns and identified missing parts in patterns. The Gr. 2's tried to figure out a pattern that had a specific number of items in different ways. We then spent time in math centers. We had prayertime then it was time to go home! Sept. 19th, 2011 Photo Day Today we played some tag games at Osbourne gym. After our walk back, we had snack and recess. After recess, we did calendar and Emma, who is our VIP this week, shared with us some things she made and photos of her and her family. We learned about the short vowel o today and reviewed short vowel i. We added our own o words to an octopus we are hanging up in our room. We had Language centers then lunch. After lunch, we had Art with Mrs. Scale and pictures. Pictures took up a lot of our afternoon so we are finishing our math story about sorting and our math activities tomorrow! We did homework folders and DEAR, then it was time to go. See you tomorrow for Family Reading! Sept. 16th, 2011 Scholastic Book Orders Due First Day of Swimming The highlight of our day was swimming! It went smoothly and we are looking forward to it next week! Emma is our V.I.P next week and will be bringing things to share with us about her. Also, Photo day is on Monday so please be in formal uniform. Goal setting meetings are also next week so please be sure you have filled out your child's goal setting form and multiple intelligences survey (given on Meet the Teacher Night). Have a great weekend! Sept. 14th, 2011 We started the morning off with Brain Moves and Calendar. We then finished our journals about Beach Day. All the kids did a great job and were very focused and effortful. Afterwards, they had some time in Language Centers and Ms. Wong taught the children another game called Rhyme Time. After recess, we read the story of Jesus' birth. We talked about the similarities and differences from Jesus' birth and ours. For example, Jesus had mom and dad to love Him when he was born and we also had loved ones around. However, Jesus was born in a stable and we were born in hospitals. We talked about the biggest difference, which is that Jesus was God's Son, who was to die for all the people on earth. The biggest similarity was that we were also God's sons and daughters and God loves us very much. We made picture frames with verses on the back to remind us that we are God's children and God loved us all so much, He gave His only Son to save us from our sins. After lunch, we had Chapel and Mrs. Kappers shared with us about her family's experience in Yemin. After Chapel, the children had choir with Mrs. Na. We did more patterning (Gr. 1's copying recognizing patterns; Gr. 2's identifying changing attributes and pattern cores) when we came back fro music and then had some time for math centers. We prayed for those who were sick and thanked God for some of the amazing things He did this week. See you tomorrow! Sept. 13th, 2011 Welcome Back BBQ/Meet the Teacher Night Today, we started the day with calendar and brain moves to prepare our brains for learning! We then played a game called around the world, and competed to identify short vowel a and e words. We then completed a job that required us to write down short a and e words that rhymed with words such as vet, hat, bag, and others. Afterwards, we spent some time in Language Centers. It was then time for recess. After recess, we read a story about emotions and identified different emotions we have felt before. We discussed the appropriateness of feeling emotions versus the appropriateness of acting on our emotions. We then started our first journal entry about beach day last week and talked about the emotions we felt at beach day, such as excitement, pride (there were many beautiful sandcastles), and joy. We then moved on to Social Studies, where we practiced our presentation and oral skills by talking to partners, then the class, about our inventions. We practiced using a loud, clear voice, and making sure we are not covering our faces with anything when we speak. After lunch, we had Music. We spent some time in the library, using our library card books and taking out a book to bring home to read. For math, the Gr. 1's worked on recognizing and copying patterns while the Gr. 2's identified pattern cores and attributes of patterns such as color, size, and shape. We then spent some time in Patterning and Sorting math centers. We said our prayers, cleaned up, Ms. Wong announced Mind Bubble (question of the day) winners, and went to play outside! Sept. 12th, 2011 We had our first gym class today! We spent some time playing tag games and practicing signals. We practiced using our spatial awareness in different activities. After recess, we read a story and identified short vowel e words in the book. We added words of our own to the short vowel e egg to hang up in our classroom. For Social Studies, we started our Technology and Simple Machines unit. We watched a video about life without technology and talked about how different types of technology help us in our daily lives. We illustrated what life would be like without some of these technologies like computers, lawn mowers, microwaves, etc. After lunch, we had DEAR. We then invented our own machines that would help us with tasks. We continued with sorting in math, sorting by different attributes and spending time playing sorting games with our classmates. Before hometime, we discussed what we learned today and said a prayer together. Sept. 9th, 2011 Beach Day We had a great day at the beach! Praise the Lord for the amazing weather and fun memories!See you at Osbourne gym at 9:20am on Monday! Sept. 8th, 2011 Today, we started the morning off with Calendar, Brain Moves, and House Team activities. We chose our team name and color, and made up team chants. We then had our recess snacks with our house team members. After recess, we heard a story about bullying and what to do if someone bullies our friends. We then started learning about short vowels, starting with short vowel a. We practiced identifying short vowel a words and writing silly sentences with short a words. We also wrote our own short a word and put it on a short a cat poster which is now hanging in our room. After our language jobs, we worked on a thank you card for a helper who helped us decorate our classroom. We then had buddy reading with the K's and senior students until lunchtime. We had music after lunch and then math. In math, we started our sorting and patterning unit and worked on a tools sorting job. Afterwards, we sorted things from 'treasure boxes' Ms. Wong put together. It was then time to go home! Beach day is tomorrow so please dress appropriately for play and bring your lunch! Pray for sun! Sept. 7th, 2011 We started the day off with Brain Moves, small body exercises that require us to criss cross our arms, move our shoulders, and think about our lefts and right. These are great to help us prepare our brains for learning! We then did Calendar and Language. For language, we talked about letters and that letters made up words and why it is important we use words or know how to read words. We went on a Nature Word Walk where we picked up things like leaves, rocks, pinecones, weeds, etc. from the playground or simply observed, then recorded what these things were in words. Some children described their findings' color and texture, while others talked about where their object came from. We then finished up a few things from last day and it was time for recess. After recess, Ms. Wong read a story about manners, saying please, thank you, and excuse me in certain situations. We then talked about temptation and self control. Ms. Wong put a bag of candy in front of the class and everyone was able to prevent themselves from jumping for the bag! We read a story about Adam and Eve, how they were not able to resist temptation and what their consequence was. We learned that God is a source of help in these times and identified areas in our life that we need self control in. Afterwards, we made puppets, gluing our writing on their backs as a reminder that God wants us to have self control. After lunch, we had chapel and music. Then, we had some games with our house teams , which ended our day with alot of fun and laughter! See you tomorrow! Please remember to bring in Beach day permission forms tomorrow! Sept. 6th, 2011 What a wonderful first day of school we had! We thank God for the spacious room, now that we have 9 Grade 1'sand 2's and the Kindergartens have their own space downstairs as well! We started the day with Chapel by thanking the Lord for our school, families, and staff and for His blessing on the year ahead. After Chapel, Mr. Jadhav came to pray for our class. We then did a tour of the school and shared our favorite summer memories in class. Some children brought photos to share with the class and it looked like they had an amazing summer! Ms. Wong shared a bit about her Disneyland trip as well :) After recess, we read a story about a cat trying to find a suitable best friend. We then looked at our calendar for this month and learned about all the upcoming events. We made our own calendars to take home. Ms. Wong taught the class how to trace different facial features from a tracing page to make our own funny portraits. These will be on the bulletin board to share after they are completed! After lunch, we had Music with Mrs. Na. We then did a bit more work on our portraits and made thank you cards for the donors of our computer. We spent our last bit of time in the classroom exploring the different activities and games in the classroom. Homework folders and notices were handed out, then it was time to go home!
