The Arts

At Westside Christian School we believe that creativity flourishes when God’s Word resounds through us and through our work. God is in his very essence creative and we are created in His image. When the children of Westside Christian School are engaged in music, drama or other creative expression they are giving voice to the creativity He has instilled. We believe that all children can learn to express themselves artistically and that God is glorified as these creative gifts are utilized and nurtured.

When we consider the development of the whole child, we see artistic training, be it an art class, a dramatic production or a choir practice as important as intellectual or physical training. For certain students, the Arts provide the most important opportunity for experiencing and utilizing the gifts they have received.

The Arts allow students to feel and think and respond “outside the box”, to create, delve discover and revel in freedom which other subjects can struggle to provide. At Westside Christian School we believe that the Arts allow children to function outside of humanly constructed constraints inviting them back to the beauty, security and freedom we had in The Garden.

At Westside Christian School we stand in awe at the amazing gifts God has given our children. In art, music and drama we see and hear their expressive spirits and know that God is being glorified.
