The Student Experience

If you were to visit Westside Christian School at the end of any given school day, chances are, you would notice something peculiar. We are not referring to Crazy Hat day or even Pajama Day; it is something less obvious, but no less unusual.

The lights have been turned off in the classrooms, the phone in the office is finally silent and the custodian is beginning to make his rounds. But look out the window, and you will see a playground still full of children. Students of all ages are running and climbing, a few are huddled together looking at bugs, others are putting the finishing touches on a “fortress” in the woods, while the senior students are finalizing their social plans for youth group. The simple fact is, they are not leaving. Parents are patiently waiting, visiting with one another, and calling (usually more than once) that it really is time to go home.

What greater compliment can a child give to a school than when they are excited to arrive in the morning and reluctant to leave at the end of the day? Such is the richness of student life at Westside Christian School.

It is reasonable to expect that a school would encourage academic excellence and offer a variety of learning experiences, but what you will observe at our school is so much more. Our children delight in being together, they are enthusiastic about what they are learning and in profound and childlike ways they are celebrating the goodness of the Lord.
