Spiritual Life

If you were to walk through our doors, you would hear the “spiritual” sounds of a Christian school. You would hear praises being sung during weekly chapel services. You would hear children praying for one another and for the homeless. You would hear children reciting Bible verses.

But now listen again. Listen to the sounds that are in reality no less spiritual. Hear students discussing the war in Afghanistan. Listen to a science lesson taking place down the hall, hear the giggles of laughter coming from the primary room.

At Westside we see all aspects of school life, be it relational, physical or academic, as spiritual. We cannot separate Christian education into spiritual or nonspiritual realms. Everything we do in the classroom, on the playground, on field trips and how we treat each other in and outside of school hours, is all spiritual.

It is the heartbeat of our school to model and to teach that whatever you do in word and deed should be done in the name of Jesus Christ. We desire children to understand that every act is a spiritual act and to be aware of its implications. We want to raise and train students who are sensitive to invisible realities and who hear the voice of God and see His hand in all that they do.
